:confused: How would you define "the Gospel"?

Jesus preached the Gospel, He asked people to believe the Gospel. Doesn't sound as if it's only about Him.

This is what I came up with years ago, but had a hard time doing so. Is it accurate? http://www.bibletimelines.org/FramedGospel.html

You might have a problem with some of the die hard Calvinists with the whole free will thing. I lean toward Arminianism (free will), but I have the grace to allow others to be wrong (poking Ed and Tom with a stick)

:behindsofa:You were predestined to believe that. ;) :snicker:

The Lord can do whatever He wants -- and He does! The Lord created evil when He created the devil and He created it for a reason. We probably won't fully appreciate all of His creation until:
a) we get to heaven and
b) evil is thrown into the lake of fire

Well, my first thought was, "Do you really believe that God created the Devil and evil?" But I guess I'd really like an answer to my original question before we get to this subject about the Devil and evil. (It's a good one though.)

:focus: What is the gospel in your opinion? Or can you give me something direct from the Bible? We usually say that the Gospel is about what Jesus did on the cross. What else is there though?

The Gospel is the good news !!
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is:The death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (King James Version)
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Blood, Water, and Spirit......

Romans 6:3-5 (King James Version)

3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (King James Version)

1 Corinthians 15
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures

John 3:5 (King James Version)
)
5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Luke 24:45-49 (King James Version)

45Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48And ye are witnesses of these things.

49And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 2:38 (King James Version)

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
