As attorneys and politicians grapple over the validity of slave reparations, a group of Egyptians have trumped the debate with a claim against Jews that dates back thousands of years.

Dr. Nabil Hilmi, a dean at the University of Al-Zaqaziq, said Egyptian expatriates in Switzerland are mounting a massive lawsuit against "all Jews around the world" that seeks compensation for "tons" of gold they claim was stolen during the Jews' exodus out of the country.

Hilmi described the suit in an interview with the Egyptian weekly Al-Ahram Al-Arabi.

"Since the Jews make various demands of the Arabs and the world, and claim rights that they base on historical and religious sources, a group of Egyptians in Switzerland has opened the case of the so-called 'great exodus of the Jews from Pharaonic Egypt.' At that time, they stole from the Pharaonic Egyptians gold, jewelry, cooking utensils, silver ornaments, clothing, and more, leaving Egypt in the middle of the night with all this wealth, which today is priceless," Hilmi told the paper, according to a translation by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

Claiming the alleged theft was documented in Exodus, Chapter 35, verses 12 through 36 in the Torah, Hilmi described how a convoy of 600,000 Jews trailed by a long line of donkeys loaded with the stolen goods – including 300,000 kg of gold – crossed the desert in the heart of Sinai, in an attempt to confuse Pharaoh's army.

There was no stealing.
The gold was given voluntarily.
Such silly foolishness of absurd nit-picking.
Just a lot of hot air blowing nowhere.

It always amazes me how we place such value on rocks, and not so much on life.......

The gold was only a partial reparation for 430 years of slavery. As Ellen G. White said in Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 283, paragraph 3: "Before leaving Egypt, the people, by the direction of Moses, claimed a recompense for their unpaid labor; and the Egyptians were too eager to be freed from their presence to refuse them. The bondmen went forth laden with the spoil of their oppressors." If Egyptians want to sue for return of the gold, they may wind up having to pay even more in reparations.

This Biblical precedent of paying reparations for slavery might have interesting implications for America in view of the enslavement of blacks for many generations.

Hi Ron,

“…reparations for slavery..” you mentioned.

That’s good thinking. Surely you could write an editorial comment to the newspaper reporting that nonsensical reasoning of the Egyptian Arabs to the Jews about the gold issue. Based on what you just posted here you could be of greater influence to an even larger online reading crowd than TR members/guests small number.

The author E.G.White has vastly influenced my Christian life growth in a very positive way. Especially the book “Desire of Ages”, which gave me deeper insights to the life of Christ on earth. I got to know Jesus as God/Man better because of having read that book.
