These wireless AIDC systems allow for non-contact reading and are effective in manufacturing and other hostile environments where bar code labels could not survive. RFID has established itself in a wide range of markets including livestock identification and automated vehicle identification (AVI) systems because of its ability to track moving objects.Now the story:The story seems simple enough. An outside privacy and security advisory committee to the Department of Homeland Security penned a tough report concluding the government should not use chips that can be read remotely in identification documents. According to a report on the news last night [1/1//07], it is now U.S. law, all flying in or out of the country will require passports.

It was, the exceptions were Mexico or Canada, now you need one if you go there as well.

So if you're a U.S. citizen who has lived on the border of Mexico or Canada all your life and if you have relatives (parents, aunts, brothers, sisters, grandparents, etc.) who live 100 feet from you on the other side of the border, we have to get a passport to visit them????? :smack:
