if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.

I think it was that the people were so overcome by the holiness of God being in such close proximity that they asked Moses to be the mediator from then on.
they were uncomfortable.
Thats off the top of my head

It was God that put it in there. It wasn't man. Why would our God put it in there? I'm confused here on this one.
Wasn't there people who had heard God or seen God even after that? This being so, WHY is it in there and of all places, right after the 10 commandments?
I have heard even in todays time that there are those that proclaim to have heard God come to them and speak right to them. Are they lying or are they talking to satan rather than God???

When the Angel of the Lord spoke to Moses from the burning bush and declared that he was the great I AM, was it God that was talking to Moses?
If God sends a message to a man through an angel -- and if the angel audibly delivers the message to the man -- then was it God that spoke to the man?
And the bible says that Satan can appear as an "angel of light." (2 Cor. 11:14) (http://www.biblegateway.com/cgi-bin/bible?passage=2+Corinthians+11%3A14&KJV_version=yes&language=english&x=16&y=6)
There are so many different variables to consider.

I apparently don't understand what you are asking here then.
In Exodus 20:18-19, the people saw the lightning and heard the thunder, etc from the mountain where God has just given the 10 commandments and they said to Moses, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not GOd speak to us, lest we die."
So it was the Israelites that originally stated this. And as I stated earlier, it looks like they were just totally intimidated by God and asked Moses to handle the communication from then on out and be the go-between.
I think it is also important that Moses told them to not be so worried and afraid. He had them stand at a distance while he approached God.

I think a reading of the encounter of Saul's experience with God on the road to Damascus is quite clear. Saul/Paul went on to be a might warrior for God.
When the Angel of the Lord spoke to Moses from the burning bush and declared that he was the great I AM, was it God that was talking to Moses
I think there is a little question exactly who was speaking to Moses.
If God sends a message to a man through an angel -- and if the angel audibly delivers the message to the man -- then was it God that spoke to the man
I would think that there are many, many ways God speakes to us. I believe at times angels do. I t hink maybe that sometimes there are those that have actually seen angels in an hour of need or in danger that have been sent to protect them. I also think many angel sightings are a overvivid imagination.
But I have doubts in our current world if God now acts in such a dramatic fashion as He did with Paul or Moses. I am sure there have been dramatic conversions that have happened to people, I don't think it was when they were on their way to a major city and the bright light of God blinded them and then he spoke to them. I don't think I have heard of any that have encountered God in a burning bush. For that to happen in this day and age, you would have those that would worship the one God chose to show Himself to. If for no other reason than to be close to what was seen as greatness. I have heard many of the tele-evangelists describe their dramatic encounters. This usually translates to hero worship and a large following, which is desired by the one claiming the special experience.
I believe the healings by the apostles, God working through them. I believe that God still does at times, heal some in a miraculous fashion, but no longer at the hands of current day apostles, as shown many times on TV and claimed by others.
So no, I don't think God speaks to us in quite the same way He did in the times of the bible.
And the bible says that Satan can appear as an "angel of light." (2Cor.11:14) There are so many different variables to consider
It is up to us to use discernment when dealing with those that make the claim of speaking directily to God as the greats of the bible did centuries ago, Proclaiming something is very easy, it is the living of those claims that shouold be the determining factor in what we believe. If Paul had preached the gospel in one town and as Saul continued his old life in another, we would have clear evidence of who He actually spoke with.
I don't agree that there are so many variables. There is truth and then there is deceit. He was a man of God wherever he went and whoever he dealt with. If we are vigilant and watch, God will always show through.
