Rev 22-18: I warn every one who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if any one adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,
19: and if any one takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

These quotes have been traditionally looked at as a warning. Many years back when I was younger and more fearless I saw these quotes in a different way. I saw them not so much a warning for the faithful but as a hint to the faithful as to how to solve the mystery. Here was my line of thinking. It meant that all the bible prophesy quotes were pieces of a puzzle and one needed only these pieces to make the puzzle. So, I outlined both the New and Old Testament for anything about prophesies, even quotes assumed historical, and using just this set of bible quotes, reaaranged them to create a single continuous story without using a single word of my own. I am not saying my story was correct, but it would interesting to see what others come up with.

Of equal importance is the statement by Peter [2 Pet.1:20-21]: "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men who spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."

In His love,

I agree with you on that. But Christ did leave behind the spirit of truth such that new understanding may be allotted to humans as time goes on.

I agree that the Spirit will continue to open the mystery up about the Scriptures, but will not add new things. Just reveal what is already there.

There has been no shortage of cults with a "New revelation from God" In fact, that is a general mark of a cult leader. This person clains special revelation from God, and uses this "authority" to shepherd others.....

Dan 12:8-10
8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. (KJV)

Prov 14:3
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them. (KJV)
